Purpose-built for LNG Carriers

LNG Compliance Platform

Compliance software built for LNG carriers, not adapted from generic maritime tools. Every regulation, every engine type, every containment system — modelled correctly the first time.

Why LNG needs its own compliance stack

LNG carriers are 3-5% of the merchant fleet but 15% of the compliance complexity. Boil-off gas dynamics, engine-type methane slip, forced BOG vs GCU dispatch, containment-system age adjustment, dual-fuel operations — none of these are edge cases. They're the daily reality of running an LNG voyage.

Generic maritime compliance tools (ZeroNorth, OceanScore, Marorka, Signol, DNV Fleet Manager) built their engines for oil tankers first and bolted LNG on later. Their LNG factor is a single number. Their engine model has 2-3 types. Their BOG treatment is "assume it's fuel".

VEMO is the other way around. Built for LNG first. Every engine type gets its own SFOC curve + methane slip profile. Every containment gets its own BOR curve + age adjustment. Every voyage models natural BOG vs forced vs reliquefaction vs GCU per leg.

LNG-native modeling depth

The things generic maritime software gets wrong on LNG.

Engine-type methane slip

ME-GI (2-stroke HP, minimal slip) vs X-DF (2-stroke Otto, moderate slip) vs DFDE (4-stroke, higher slip). FuelEU intensity varies 76-91 gCO₂e/MJ across these — the difference between A rating and D.

Boil-off by containment

Moss vs NO96 vs Mark III vs Mark III Flex — each with age-adjusted BOR. Guarantee vs actual tracked per voyage with cargo-loss exposure in USD.

Forced BOG dispatch

When natural boil-off < propulsion demand, the vaporizer runs at 15-25% inefficiency. Modelled per voyage leg with slow-steaming trade-off recommendations.

Pilot fuel accounting

Dual-fuel engines need MGO pilot injection (~1-3% of fuel by mass). Small numbers but exclusion changes CII rating for close cases.

LNG-specific EEXI formula

MEPC.350(78) has a separate formula for LNG carriers ≥100k DWT (inverted DWT exponent). Generic tools use the wrong one and get EEXI wrong by 20-40%.

GIIGNL custody transfer

Cargo quantity determined by GIIGNL protocols. VEMO uses actual GIIGNL energy accounting for MRV + DCS submission, not simplified mass approximations.

Frequently asked questions

Does VEMO only work for LNG carriers?
No. All fuel types and vessel types supported. But the platform's depth is in LNG — engine-type methane slip, containment BOR curves, forced BOG dispatch. If your fleet is majority LNG, VEMO is the best fit. Pure conventional bulk/tanker fleets may find generic tools sufficient.
How is VEMO different from ZeroNorth / OceanScore?
Generic maritime tools built engines for tanker/bulk first. LNG is bolted on with simplified factors. VEMO built LNG-first: 9 engine models, 4 containment systems, BOG dispatch, GIIGNL custody transfer, pilot fuel accounting — all first-class. See detailed comparison.
Can we connect our existing PMS / ERP?
Yes. REST API for voyage data + noon report ingest. Also standalone via VEMO's built-in reporting portal with vessel API keys for direct bridge submission. Excel bulk import for backfill.
Which class societies is VEMO recognised by?
Output formats (MRV, DCS, EEXI Technical File) are accepted by DNV, LR, BV, RINA, ABS, ClassNK, KR, IRS. VEMO does not replace class approval — we produce the data class + flag verifies.
